ASTHA-A Ddrops is a pediatric-friendly liquid formulation combining levosalbutamol, ambroxol, and guaifenesin. This product is designed to provide relief from respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), particularly in younger patients or those who have difficulty swallowing tablets. The formulation combines a bronchodilator, a mucolytic, and an expectorant to address multiple symptoms of respiratory distress, including wheezing, chest congestion, and mucus buildup.
Route of Administration: Oral drops.
Typical dose for children (age 2-12 years): 1-2 ml (containing 0.05 mg levosalbutamol, 1.5 mg ambroxol, 2.5 mg guaifenesin per 1 ml) 2-3 times daily, or as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Administration: Shake the bottle well before use. Use the provided dropper to measure the prescribed dose, and administer it orally. It can be taken with or without food.
Cardiovascular Disease: Levosalbutamol may cause increased heart rate or palpitations. Caution is advised in patients with a history of heart disease.
Hypertension: Use cautiously in children with high blood pressure, as levosalbutamol may cause transient increases in blood pressure.
Diabetes: Levosalbutamol may affect blood sugar levels, so it’s important to monitor blood sugar in diabetic patients.
Gastrointestinal Issues: Ambroxol and guaifenesin may cause mild gastrointestinal upset. If nausea or discomfort occurs, administer the drops with food.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Although the product is intended for children, caution is advised if used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Consult a healthcare provider before use in these cases.
Hypersensitivity: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to levosalbutamol, ambroxol, guaifenesin, or any of the other ingredients.
Severe Cardiovascular Disorders: Use is not recommended for patients with severe cardiovascular conditions, particularly those with uncontrolled hypertension or arrhythmias.
Severe Liver or kidney disease: Caution is advised for children with liver or kidney impairment.
Bronchodilation: Levosalbutamol helps relax the muscles of the airways, promoting easier airflow and relieving symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath.
Mucolytic Action: Ambroxol helps to thin mucus, making it easier to clear from the respiratory tract, thus easing breathing.
Expectorant Effect: Guaifenesin assists in loosening and thinning mucus, promoting better clearance through coughing.
Child-Friendly Formulation: The drop formulation is easy to administer, especially for young children who may have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules.
Rapid Relief: The combined effects of the active ingredients offer prompt relief from respiratory symptoms, improving comfort and breathing.
