Indications

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Such as community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, and acute bacterial rhinosinusitis.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Including pyelonephritis (kidney infection) and cystitis.
• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Including cellulitis, infected wounds, and abscesses.
• Prostatitis: Chronic bacterial prostatitis.
• Gonorrhea: For the treatment of uncomplicated gonococcal infections.
• Intra-abdominal Infections: In combination with other antibiotics.

Dosage and Administration

Levofloxacin 750 mg once daily for 7-14 days, depending on the severity and type of infection.

Dose adjustment may be required in patients with kidney problems.

Precautions

Allergy: Avoid if allergic to Levofloxacin, other quinolones, or any components in the tablet.

Tendon Issues: Levofloxacin may cause tendonitis or tendon rupture, especially in the elderly or those taking corticosteroids.

Renal Impairment: Adjust dosage for patients with kidney problems, as Levofloxacin is eliminated by the kidneys.

Pregnancy and Lactation: Generally not recommended during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. Levofloxacin passes into breast milk; consult a healthcare provider before use while breastfeeding.

QT Prolongation: Levofloxacin may prolong the QT interval and should be used cautiously in patients with heart conditions.

Photosensitivity: Levofloxacin may increase the risk of sunburn. Avoid excessive sunlight exposure and use sunscreen.
