Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg combine two antibiotics with different mechanisms of action to treat infections caused by both bacteria and protozoa.
Ofloxacin: A fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, thus preventing bacterial growth.
Ornidazole: An antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and protozoa.
- Recommended Usage
Indications
- Bacterial Infections: Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), Respiratory infections (e.g., pneumonia), Skin and Soft Tissue Infections, and Gastrointestinal infections caused by aerobic bacteria.
- Protozoal Infections: Amoebiasis, Giardiasis, and Trichomoniasis caused by protozoa.
- Anaerobic Infections: Intra-abdominal infections (e.g., peritonitis) and Bacterial Vaginosis caused by anaerobic bacteria.
Dosage and Administration
Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg 1 tablet twice daily, with or without food.
Precautions
Allergy: Avoid if allergic to Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, or any components of the tablet.
Liver and Kidney Disease: Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney problems, as both drugs may need dose adjustments.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary; consult a doctor before breastfeeding.
Severe Diarrhea: If diarrhea is severe or prolonged, it may indicate a Clostridium difficile infection.
CNS Effects: Can cause dizziness, confusion, or seizures in some patients. Use with caution in those with a history of epilepsy.
