Alendronic acid is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men, and to treat Paget's disease of bone, a condition where the bones become enlarged and weakened. Standard Dose: 70 mg once a week, taken orally with a full glass of water. This is usually taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
